'Zoolander 2' Release News, Review Roundup: Sequel Not A Hit? It Was A 'Wreck On The Runway'
"Zoolander 2" made its way to the big screens on Feb. 10, and while waiting for a box office tally, many reviews have written that the sequel did not quite surpass the success of the first film.
According to a review in Collider, they could not get what the writers were trying to tell. The film was co-written by Ben Stiller, Justin Theroux, Nicholas Stoller, and John Hamburg.
More than that, the review highlighted the appearance of Mugatu, which was played by Will Ferrell, as if the actor somehow forgot how his acting on the first film brought the real comedy the sequel appears to be lacking.
"His affectations and pitch are slightly different, and while he has some good jokes, the film can't seem to figure out how to bring us the Mugatu we appreciated from the first 'Zoolander' while also showing that prison has 'changed' him," the Collider review says.
Furthermore, Wall Street Journal writes that the movie was a "wreck on the runway." As the author states, the second motion picture seems to have left viewers in "a suspended animation, with eyes glazed over and brain in sleep mode."
Notably, the film is also known for high profile celebrity cameos. Surprisingly, big stars like Benedict Cumberbatch, Justin Bieber, Marc Jacobs, Sting, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Anna Wintour appeared on the motion picture.
"Zoolander 2" will continue to be shown in cinemas on the coming days so it would be better the fans could check for themselves. The film stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, Will Ferrell and many more.
