'Zombie vs. Robots' Movie News: Comic Series to Get Big Screen Adaptation
A new zombie film project has been announced by Sony Pictures, however this one promises to have a spin on the sci-fi genre.
The movie will be based on the IDW comic book series 'Zombie vs. Robots,' and will be named 'Inherit the Earth.
The studio has also locked down Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Craig Borton, most known for his work in 'Dallas Buyers Club.'
The series was started back in 2005 and follows this premise:
"It's tech prowess meets undead mayhem! Eisner Award-nominated team of artist Ashley Wood ('Popbot') and writer Chris Ryall ('The Great and Secret Show'), a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies has only one chance at recovery - a team of robots that must protect and clone a lone surviving human baby. They just need to do this amidst the endless hordes of zombies who have been driven rabid by their frustration at inedible bots and their lust to eat the one living brain left on the planet."
Michael Bay and Brad Fuller have been set to produce the film while Andrew Adamson will direct.
"Inherit the Earth will certainly be a bit of a different project for Adamson. He first made a splash in Hollywood when he directed Shrek and Shrek 2, and moved from there to direct the live action flick, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe. Beyond those films, he's directed a Cirque de Soleil film and a Focus Features production called Mr. Pip. With such a diverse resume, it will be very interesting to see what directorial style Adamson brings to Inherit the Earth. Hopefully Inherit the Earth will prove to be a more satisfying book-to-film adaptation than The Chronicles of Narnia movies were," writes Cinema Blend.
There is currently no release date for the film or actors attached.
