Xiaomi Yi Camera News: Chinese Tech Firm Unveils Night Vision Edition with Infrared Sensor
Having successfully launched the Yi Camera some months ago, Chinese tech titan Xiaomi has just announced a night vision edition of the camera. The night vision Yi Camera will come with a 940 mm infrared sensor, which will allow the user to take pictures and videos even in total darkness. In addition, the device will also be able to stream content in real time by virtue of its built-in Wi-Fi functionality. Therefore, it can also be employed for home security purposes.
Tech Radar reports that the real bonus is the pricing of the device. Xiaomi is only asking for 149 CNY.
In order to make the camera further accommodating, the Chinese manufacturer has been very careful to ensure that its stature remains small - something similar to the original Yi Camera. The camera is able to record content as far as about 5 meters away even in complete darkness, making the device a very competent camera unit.
In terms of the sensor used in the Yi night vision camera unit, Xiaomi has made use of an f/2.0 aperture lens combined with 4x zoom functionality. To give a boost to the native storage, the device comes with a microSD card slot on board that is expandable up to 32GB. The Yi Camera also has a mic on board, which will allow the user to get audio input too.
Speaking of compatibility, the Yi Camera runs along with Android 2.3+ or iOS 7.0+ devices, enabling one to use it even if he/ she does not own an Android smartphone/ tablet. The mobile apps will allow the user to stream content from the camera as well as access the images, videos taken from them.
