Xiaomi Anniversary Device News, Rumors: New Ferrari Smartphone & Mi Smartwatch Releases March 31?

Chinese tech titan Xiaomi will soon turn five-years-old on March 31, and while the company may throw a big party for the occasion, they might also launch a new smartphone and its first-ever smartwatch.

Tech Radar reports that recent leaks revealed that the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone has been named Ferrari smartphone. This, however, appears to be a very unconventional name for the company, whose earlier successful smartphones were named Mi 2 and Mi 3 as well as the Redmi series. Since the upcoming device was first spotted in a benchmark listing on Wednesday, some specs of the smartphone are already available.

According to the listing, the Ferrari smartphone will come with a 4.9-inch 1080p display, be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset, and incorporate a 2GB of RAM, in addition to 16GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel camera and run with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Perhaps, there is no connection between Xiaomi celebrating its fifth anniversary on March 31 and the company's latest handset being leaked out in benchmarks. However, keeping in view the fact that the handset has appeared this close to Xiaomi's big day, it is certainly going to give rise to some speculation.

In addition to the Ferrari smartphone, Xiaomi is also expected to announce a number of other devices during its fifth anniversary event.

Considering the fact that Xiaomi always comes up with some surprises, it is likely that this time too the company will have some other revelations in store for the tech enthusiasts. However, Xiaomi hasn't shrunk back from venturing into new market segments; therefore, one should not be surprised to find a product which they have not seen from the company before.

According to Android Central, Xiaomi will also be launching their first smartwatch this event. The report claims, "Xiaomi's first smartwatch, which will allegedly be called the Mi Watch. The watch is expected to feature a brushed metal design and a circular dial, and will come with the ability to monitor blood pressure via pulse wave velocity recognition."
