Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Specs, Rumors: Images Claim Chinese Electronics Company Working on New Device

The Internet was set ablaze following reports that Xiaomi is working on a new device that will be the successor to its Redmi Note. The rumors gained ground following leaks of two images purported to be those of Redmi Note 2. Although most tech experts have dismissed the reports as baseless, still many believe that Xiaomi may launch the Remi Note 2 soon.

The leaked images claim to display the back panel of the purported Redmi Note 2. The images are accompanied with notes of different hardware specs.

According to the latest rumors, the Redmi Note 2 will come with a 5.5" screen, a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC, 2 GB of RAM and a 13 MP primary rear camera. The leaked image of the supposed Redmi Note 2 shows that device's back panel measures at 159 mm x 82 mm. The positioning and shape of the 13 MP camera and flash cutouts reveal a design language that is different from that of the Xiaomi's current-gen devices.

Meanwhile, a report by GSM Arena suggests that the purported Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will have an 8 MP main camera. However, the report is skeptical about the authenticity of the leaked images.

Franchise Herald, on the other hand, says that the upcoming device may sport a MediaTek MT6595 octa-core processor. Kpop Starz claims that the mainframe of the handset may accommodate four Cortex-A17 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores.

In addition, there are rumors that the Redmi Note 2 is likely to come with a 1080 pixel resolution. Citing Kpop Starz, another report says that the device will have an in-built 3500 mAh battery and a bigger internal storage capacity. It may come in five variants of internal capacity 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

On a final note, a report by Phonearena says that the purported Redmi Note 2 may be priced around $244.
