In case the rumors turn true, the purported device may house a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 series octa-core similar to the one in Xiaomi Mi 4i.

With a view to balance the power-hogging full HD display, Redmi Note 2 is expected to accommodate a 3,100 Plus mAh battery unit. The previous version, Redmi Note, houses a 3,100mAh battery unit.

In terms of software, Redmi Note 2 is likely to come with v5.0.2 or the latest v5.1 with MIUI skin out-of-the-box. While Xiaomi Mi 4i, which was launched in April, came with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, the 2014 Redmi Note model is yet to get Lollipop update.

In the camera front, the upcoming Xiaomi phablet is likely to boast a 13 megapixel rear camera together with Sony Exmor sensor and a 5 megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies.

Similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be a mid-range phablet and possibly come with a price tag of anything between ¥980 ($158) and ¥1272 ($205).

As of now, none of these specs or the price of the device can be said to be finalized, because Xiaomi is keeping mum on these aspects. Nevertheless, most of these features are likely to make a cut in the upcoming device.
