Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime Launch Date News, Rumors: Device Appears on Amazon India, May be Released with Redmi 2 Note on Aug. 13
Xiaomi fans worldwide are eagerly waiting for Aug. 13 when the Chinese tech giant is scheduled to unveil MIUI 7, its latest version of Android-based operating system. In addition, the company also plant to launch its latest 5.5-inch display phablet, the Redmi Note 2. Latest reports suggest that Xiaomi may also launch its first 'Made in India' smartphone, the Redmi 2 Prime, which has already appeared on Amazon India.
Christian Today reports that the listing on Amazon India revealed the specs of the handset, which appears to a padded out version of the Xiaomi Redmi 2. It may be noted that Xiaomi released the same handset in China early this year, but with a different name - the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition came with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage space. It is said that the Redmi 2 Prime will also come with the same components. In addition, the specs of Redmi 2 Prime include a 4.7-inch 720p display, an 8-megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The Redmi 2 Prime may also pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor running at 1.2 GHz and house a 2,200 mAh battery unit.
It seems that the device will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but with MIUI 6 put next to it.
As of now, Xiaomi has not revealed the pricing of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime. However, it is expected that the device will be dearer compared to the original Redmi 2, which was sold in India. It is also expected that the upcoming smartphone will be launched for the region on Aug. 13 alongside the Redmi Note 2.
Meanwhile, it is speculated that the Redmi Note 2 will come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and 2 GB of RAM.
