Xiaomi Mi Note Pro Release Date News: Pre-Orders Start May 6, Still No Confirmed Shipping Date

In January this year, Chinese tech manufacturer Xiaomi announced the premium Xiaomi Mi Note smartphone alongside the base model Xiaomi Mi Note. While the latter has been launched in January itself, the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro will be available for pre-order shortly.

IB Times reports that customers will be able to preorder the Mi Note Pro beginning from May 6. This was announced by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun on the Chinese social media website Weibo. Jun, however, did not say anything regarding the shipment date of the device or its official release date. Nevertheless, the official announcement of the pre-order date has delighted Xiaomi fans, as they are now sure that the device will be available in the market soon.

According to the report, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note Pro will sport a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, have 4GB of RAM memory and come with a 64GB internal storage option. In addition, the device will boast a 13-megapixel rear camera, 4-megapixel front camera and run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS along with Xiaomi's MIUI 6 interface.

Compared to the base model Mi Note, the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro will come with somewhat more advanced specs. The base model features 3GB of RAM memory and 16GB and 64GB internal storage options. The other features of both devices will be the same.

Xiaomi has already announced that the Mi Note Pro will be available for 3,299 yuan ($532), while the Mi Note currently sells for 2,299 yuan ($371).

The Xiaomi Mi Note is popular among enthusiasts, especially in China and other markets in Asia. When it first went on sale on Jan. 27, the entire stock of the device completely sold out in just three minutes. In addition, the smartphone has received rave reviews. Unfortunately, the Xiaomi Mi Note is still not available in most Western countries, counting the United States. Similarly, the Mi Note Pro will be available in China, in addition to India, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Interestingly enough, on April 8, Xiaomi set a Guinness World Record by selling the most number of mobile phones online in a single day. On that day, the company sold as many as 2.11 million handsets in 12 hours on its Mi.com website.

In 2014, Xiaomi sold 61.1 million devices and now hopes to sell 100 million in 2015.
