Xiaomi Mi Edge Launch Rumors: New Smartphone with Curved Display May Come in October
Although the Chinese tech titan Xiaomi has yet launch its premium Mi5 handset, there are rumors that the company is planning to come out with an Edge handset. The purported upcoming smartphone is rumored to sport a curved display similar to that of the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
Citing a report in a MyDriver China, IB Times reports that the upcoming curved display smartphone from Xiaomi's curved display smartphone will be named Xiaomi Mi Edge. It is rumored that the external features of the purported smartphone will be similar to those of the company's current Redmi Note.
The report in MyDriver further suggested that Xiaomi Mi Edge will sport a dual-curved display, offering pixel densities of 565 ppi, which reportedly similar to Samsung's curved-edge screen. The Xiaomi handset is also expected to sport a 5.2in 2K display.
The Xiaomi Mi Edge will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 SoC, come with 3 GB/ 4 GB RAM and incorporate a fingerprint scanner.
In terms of price, the purported Xiaomi Mi Edge is reported to carry a price tag of 2,500 yuan ($392, £254). Speculations are high that alongside the rumoured curved-display smartphone, Xiaomi may also launch an exclusively-branded tablet in addition to a smartwatch, during October.
