Xiaomi Mi 5 Release Date News: Coming In First Quarter 2016, Specs Unveiled

With Xiaomi Mi 5 coming soon to the market in the first quarter of 2016, the mobile device is expected to be released in four variants.

Xiaomi co-founder and senior vice president Liwan Jing confirmed on MIUI forum that the company's Mi 5 is set to be unveiled at the Spring Conference, which is on Feb. 24. Also, a leak revealed that the main launch event for upcoming mobile phone was scheduled for two hour between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., igniting people's speculations that the tech giant is going to release several devices in one day.

With regard the specifications, Times News UK (via International Business Times) reported that the upcoming handset would have a 5.2-inch display, along with a 1080 by 1920 pixels or QHD screen resolution.

Below the hood of the device lies Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset with a quadcore processor, which powers the flagship product. Also, the phone will utilize an Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, along with MIUI 7.

Since the device is said to release more than one variant, it is also reported that one variant is set to feature 3 GB of RAM and a 32 GB of native storage space. On the other hand, the second phone variant has a 4 GB of RAM, in addition to a 64 GB built-in storage.

For people who love to take selfies, groupies, or food photos, Xiaomi Mi 5 is set to have a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front camera. The life span is expected to be longer, since the phone is set to have a decent 3,600 mAh battery. In addition, the device will have a fingerprint sensor, which is believed as the world's smallest and fastest, on the home button.
