Xiaomi Mi 5 Release Date, Rumors: Leak Says Tech Titan Launching Device on Jan. 15
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has already wowed the tech world with is reasonably priced Redmi 2 and now the company is likely to introduce another flagship handset on January 15. As Xiaomi has announced that it would launch three new smartphones in 2015, experts as well as tech aficionados are wondering which device will steal the limelight at the upcoming event.
According to Christian Today, a recent leak has hinted that Xiaomi plans to unveil the Mi 5 model on January 15. In fact, the leak appeared in the form of a blueprint revealing the specs of the upcoming device, especially its super slimness. The website reports that if the details leaked turn to be true, with a thickness of just 5.1 mm, Mi 5 will be the slimmest smartphone in the market ever. In fact, Mi 5 will be slimmer compared to Oppo's R5, which was the slimmest device in the market thus far.
The leak further revealed that Xiaomi's upcoming flagship smartphone is likely to measure 140.89 mm and 71.4 mm in length and width, respectively. It also hinted that the Mi 5 will be closely resembling LG's G2. As far as the display is concerned, the Mi 5 will come with a 5.2-inch screen, rendering a quad-HD display with 2560 x 1440 pixels.
In terms of the other hardware specifications, the blueprint leak did not offer any further details, barring that the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will be supporting a 64-bit architecture. Considering the fact that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 does not have a 64-bit competent CPU, it is likely that Mi 5 will be packed with the Snapdragon 810 or any of the lesser performing chipset varieties.
But the fact is that the Mi 5 will be a premium smartphone and, hence, it is unlikely that Xiaomi will be incorporating any a chipset possessing an inferior performing 64-bit capable processor.
Well, to know the precise specs and price of Xiaomi's upcoming offering, tech enthusiasts will need to wait just for a few more days.
