'XCOM 2' PS4 And Xbox One Release Date: Lead Producer Promises Q3 2016 Release?
XCOM fans may not have to wait long, as "XCOM 2" is set to come out on consoles in the third quarter of 2016.
According to XCOM lead producer Garth DeAngelis and creative director Jake Solomon, "XCOM 2" is set to come to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 6 to North America and Sept. 9 globally.
DeAngelis and Solomon say "XCOM 2" is a huge game, with its open-ended strategy layer providing thrilling player options that are exclusively done with the aid of the new flying headquarters. The new title's gameplay and procedural maps also leave soldiers with no choice but to get their hands dirty.
The game producers further revealed that since the game is procedural in nature, its graphical effects have significantly improved, such as weather, time of day, and lighting. Thanks to this, the title promises to offer a more realistic gaming experience while giving a more meaningful story arc through various challenges and aftermath of actions, which they described as "fully intact."
According to The Verge, "XCOM 2" for PS4 and Xbox One seems to share vast similarities with its PC counterpart. The game presents upgraded controls; however, it also showcases new foci on generated levels that provide a unique gaming experience from its predecessor and its version on other platforms. The website reports that it is yet to be revealed whether the game gets a mobile version, just like "Enemy Unknown" way back in 2013.
For final judgment, fans have yet to wait until Firaxis Games and 2K Games launches "XCOM 2" on consoles Sept. 6 and Sept. 9.
