'XCOM 2' PS4, Xbox One Release Date: Console Editions Delayed For September 27 To Be 'Fully Polished'

"XCOM 2" has been available for the PC for quite some time now but it looks like the launch of the console version of the game is experiencing a couple of setbacks. The game was supposed to be released on consoles Sept. 6.

According to GameSpot, the developer of the game just announced recently that there would be a delay in the release of "XCOM 2" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaming consoles. It is because the developer wanted to make sure that the game would be "fully polished at launch" and meet "the team's high standards" once it comes out.

To balance the somewhat bad news, Take-Two president Karl Slatoff provided some more pleasant updates, stating that 2K Games together with Firaxis will still push through with the DLC packs for the PC version even after the console versions have all been released.

An expansion pack of the game will be entitled "Alien Hunters" and in this pack, gamers will be able to experience new missions against new kinds of aliens ready to antagonize the main characters of the game.

Also, according to Take-Two via Destructoid, the game might get its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release in North America on Sept. 27, while for the rest of the world, it will be released on Sept. 30.

"XCOM 2" is a turn-based tactics video game which is developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It was originally released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux on Feb. 5, 2016.
