'XCOM 2' Gameplay News Update: New Operative And Enemy Unveiled

The new turn-based action title from Firaxis Games and 2K Games, "XCOM 2," will pick up about 20 years after Earth surrendered to the alien invaders in "XCOM: Enemy Unknown." The game's sequel, is set to be released on February 5. The game puts players in charge of a small resistance force as they try to restore hope for humanity and attempt to overthrow the alien invaders.

A new class of characters were revealed through a video released by the game. It is also seen that the enemies have a lot of advancements of their own.

According to International Business Times, the gamers will have to work with several allies within a mobile base as XCOM Commander. An-Yi "Lilly" Shen is the Chief Engineer, Richard Tygan is the Chief Scientist while Central Officer Bradford returns to help rebuild the organization. There will also be an operative with a couple of special skills, such as the ability to deploy a drone or hack enemies, who is also a sharpshooter who can act as a sniper or pistol expert, a grenadier for unloading explosive damage and a ranger for melee options.

The Psi Operative is the latest class of characters that was introduced to the public. These soldiers also could use the alien's psionic powers to telepathically attack the enemy. Their skills will need to be upgraded in special lab training exercises. On the opposing side will be the Gatekeeper. It is a floating orb who could turn anything near it into a zombie.
