'XCOM 2' DLC Release Date, News: Lily Shen-Led Content To Include Robotic Mechs

Firaxis' "XCOM 2: Shen's Last Gift" DLC has surfaced and it has added a pivotal element to the game, robotic mechs.

According to Polygon, it is the first time for "Shen's Last Gift" to enable engineer Lily Shen into harm's path. As per the publication, the character is set to provide substance to the title's "emotional pacing," as she is assumed to fill the role of his father Dr. Raymond Shen. Dr. Shen is a lead engineer, who is responsible for the production of some of the game's strongest weapon systems.

In the game, it is revealed that Lily is set to send the XCOM troopers on a perilous task, which is to head to a secret military base called Advent facility, where her father's final project is set to penetrate the online realm. Moreover, XCOM is set to be able to send robotic mechs to counter the alien menace if things become successful.

According to IGN, the robotic units demonstrate resemblance to their cyborg iterations from "XCOM: Enemy Within." As per the publication, they can be a mobile high cover for their squadmates and they can hurt aliens badly. Just like the Sentinels in "X-Men" films, the robots are immune to fire, along with poison and Viper binds.

The XCOM website has revealed some details on the Advent facility, which is scattered across several skyscrapers connected by enclosed bridges. The structure is guarded by the mechs and it is revealed that it cradles a prototype, which is described as a "unique new soldier class" complete with powerful new combat abilities, strategy mechanics, and customization options.

Developed by Firaxis, "XCOM 2" was released on Feb. 5.
