Xbox Project Scorpio Release Date News Update, Rumors: Next-Gen Scorpio Is Better Than Other VR Platforms Out?
The bad news is that there's no specific release date for the next-gen Xbox Project Scorpio. The good news is people now have a timetable of the holidays 2017 as confirmed by Microsoft itself.
The console is touted to be the most powerful ever with graphical processing power of 6 teraflops, which is equal to high-end PCs of today. It's also billed to be the first console to "enable true 4K gaming and hi-fidelity VR."
Aside from native 4K gaming, the console also has 320GB of memory bandwidth and eight CPU cores. There's no price tag yet, although it's obvious that it's going to cost more than the Xbox One S, which is being sold for about $300 for the 500GB storage and $400 for 2TB of storage.
Speaking of VR, will Xbox Project Scorpio be better than PCs with virtual reality-capabilities?
A news article from CNET doesn't think so.
Taking into consideration the already existing PC with an AMD RX480 graphics card, made for comparison due to the same 6-teraflops performance, the Xbox Project Scorpio might just be "barely good enough" to play VR games out in the market today.
The article doesn't mention the Xbox Project Scorpio release date, however.
To date, there's no word on which headset be the Xbox Project Scorpio will be able to play. But rumors have circulated about the console being able to support Oculus Rift. And there are also news reports that it can play "Fallout 4" VR, which at the moment is exclusive to the HTC Vive.
Watch out for more Xbox Project Scorpio release date news and rumors, which will be published here when they come along.
