Xbox Project Scorpio News: Developers Work On 4K-Compatible Games?

It seems Project Scorpio is rolling right along as Xbox division head Phil Spencer recently shared the news that several video game producers are developing 4K titles for the new console.

The Xbox executive confirmed in a Twitter post as response to a question from user, Israel Melecio, who asked, "are devs already working on scorpio or not yet?" In reply, Spencer said, "Yes, hardware, platform and games."

In a previous news report, Spencer said that Xbox Project Scorpio won't exclude game titles that don't offer 4K resolution. He said that ordinary games can also be played on the console, although it's designed to play on native 4K TV screens.

But he said that they will leave the development part to the developers since their job is to provide them with a platform with which they can maximize the capacity of their games.

The news reports are varied about the capability of Xbox Project Scorpio. The information going around ranges from either a four teraflops or as much as six teraflops in terms of computing performance.

That would put the new console among the more powerful PCs of today. That's also three times the power of the PS4 and five times more powerful than the Xbox One. This kind of power will allow owners to transition seamlessly to VR games and enjoy their favorite titles without suffering through the usual lag.

The launch of the Xbox Project Scorpio is said to be during the holidays next year, although there's no news on an exact date.
