Xbox One Wireless Adapter Driver Now Compatible With Windows 7, Windows 8.1

Xbox One fans are likely to be pleased with the new modification in the game console's wireless adapter. Windows has finally removed the restriction for the wireless controller adapter of Xbox One. Formerly, the adapter was only compatible with Windows 10. Many considered it to be capriciously arbitrary that limited the usability of the adapter. The adapter can now be used in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

Some fans and game commentators are probably wondering why software giant Microsoft has decided to modify the compatibility of the adapter. It seems to be totally arbitrary and somewhat irrational why Windows 7/Windows 8.1 drivers were not made readily compatible with the adapter. This is considering the fact that it took Microsoft almost two years before the adapter was released to the market.

It would be relevant to point out that Microsoft has been encouraging users of the earlier Windows versions to upgrade to Windows 10. Users would receive almost daily pop up messages telling them to upgrade.

Well, the main reason is of course optimizing the commercial profitability of the operating system. Many players were forced to upgrade to enable their wireless adapters for Xbox One to properly function. By paying a $25 upgrade fee, gamers can have access to the wire-free controller.

However, in order to be more competitive, Microsoft had to lift the Windows 10-only restriction. Otherwise, this would amount to losing a significant portion of gamers who are using the Xbox One game console. Support for the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 is now available for the Xbox One fans.
