Xbox One S News: Microsoft Lowers Xbox One Price; New Console Coming In August

In line with the upcoming release of the Xbox One S, it is revealed that Xbox also reduced the price of the Xbox One.

Xbox has dropped the price of the Xbox One, Geek has learned. As per the publication, the Xbox One 500GB is now being sold for $249.99, which is $30 less from the original price of $279.99. The publication also noted that the discount is mildly generous, which indicates that there are not much consoles to hit the market soon.

The news came from Xbox's Larry Hryb. On July 25, he wrote on his official Twitter account that all 500GB Xbox One consoles would be $249 starting on the said date and for a limited time in the United States.

On the other hand, the Xbox One S is set to be available in 1TB and 500GB models, which are priced at $349 and $299, respectively.

As per Xbox's official website, it is revealed that the Xbox One S serves as the most compact Xbox to date. In terms of size, it is 40 percent smaller that the original Xbox One and its built-in power supply makes it independent to other power sources.

In addition, three USB ports and the pairing button have been moved to the front side of the device, along with the infrared blaster that boosts the accessibilit of the device.

With the release of the Xbox One S, it is also assumed that Microsoft aims to clear its Xbox One supply; however, a bigger problem that is seen is the company's marketing strategy to boost the sales of the latter. Another challenge that is being faced by the upcoming console is the popularity of its rival, Sony's PlayStation 4 and its successors.

Microsoft's Xbox One S is set to be released on Aug. 2.
