Xbox One New Update Details: Microsoft Adds Suggested Friends, Screenshots, & More [VIDEO]
The next update for Xbox One is set for March 2015. One of the major and most anticipated features to occur is the ability to take and save in-game screenshots.
Richard Irving from the Xbox engineering team told well-known blogger Major Nelson in a small interview that the screenshot ability will be very easy to execute. Using the Xbox One controller, console owners need only double tap on the X button to take a screenshot. To save it, they press Y. If a Kinect is set up, users can also take screenshot by using voice activation and recognition by simply saying, "Xbox, take a screenshot."
Along with the screenshot was the necessity to update the Upload app. The Upload app was used only for recorded game clips previously. Now, the Upload app will be able to manage and view user's screenshots as well. Another cool feature with screenshot is the ability to set it as a background on the Xbox One menu. In future updates, screenshots will include abilities to add captions, attach to messages, and the ability to share throughout social media sites.
Another feature is the ability to share your real name with everyone, not just specific people, on user's Xbox Live. In a similar fashion of Facebook's "People You May Know" feature, Xbox One will also suggest friends to follow based on friends of friends, people who have played with in the past, and who to watch.
According to International Business Times, other updates for the Xbox One include the ability to set the transparency on background tiles and the ability to share voice search data with Redmond in the privacy settings.
