Xbox One Backwards Compatibility List Update: 'Red Dead Redemption' Is Finally Confirmed

"Red Dead Redemption" (RDR) will be available for Xbox One backwards compatibility on July 8, and it seems the title has directly benefitted from that announcement.

According to the report, when it was announced that the game can be played via Xbox One backwards compatibility, sales percentage skyrocketed over 6,000% as listed by Amazon.com's Movers & Shakers page. Presently, it's now the 17th bestselling game on the site.

In the same vein, there was also an increase in percentage on the game of the year edition, including the "Undead Nightmare" expansion, allowing it to jump to 36 in terms of popularity, said Gamespot.

However, it should be noted that the rise in percentage don't exactly translate to exact revenue stream. It's more accurate to look at the 17th rank of "Red Dead Redemption" on Amazon's Mover's & Shakers as the impact that the Xbox One backwards compatibility announcement had on the game.

This sudden jump in interest was understandable considering that "Red Dead Redemption" was one of the most requested titles to be included in the Xbox One backwards compatibility list, alongside "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" and "Skyrim."

RDR was actually made available earlier this year, but was immediately pulled by Microsoft after confirming it to be a mistake, said Express.

"Due to an error, some of the games currently in test were accidentally made available," the Microsoft message said after the pullout. "We have since removed access to those games, and apologize for any confusion this may have caused."
