Xbox Live Connection Problem News: Microsoft Servers Hacked or Down for Maintenance?

Xbox Live servers have recently gone down again, and fans have not been shy about voicing their frustration with Microsoft.

This has been an ongoing problem with Microsoft for a while now, and this time it has primarily been aggravating players with the new 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' Havoc DLC.

"Multiplayer games were not accessible; others said they could not access Netflix and YouTube. Both Facebook and Twitter were inundated with status messages and tweets to vent their anger. Microsoft did issue a statement saying they were aware of gamers having problems signing in to Xbox Live. The service was up and running not long after," writes Online Social Media.

Twitter account "Anonymous," account name @occupythemob has taken blame for the recent problems.

"Anonymous @occupythemob posted a few tweets claiming responsibility for the Xbox Live take down, in one they said they have control of controls 80% of Xbox live servers" reports Online Social Media.

@occupythemob's tweets included:

"Excuse me @Xbox @xboxlivenation @xboxsupport are you serious right now people can't play destiny...," and "Anonymous now controls 80% of Xbox live servers...."

Also, "Xbox Live now belongs to us. All online gaming data will be seized by Anonymous. #xboxlivedown"

Most are interpreting this to just be a hoax as the Anonymous accounts are widely known to be conspiracy theorists.

Another 'Anonymous' account, @TheAnonMovement later tweeted:

"The 'Anonymous' accounts claiming to 'fix' Microsoft and Sony's servers are saying that solely for attention. Ignore them. #XboxLiveDown"

On that note, some speculate that the servers are only down temporarily for maintenance.
