Xbox Backwards Compatibility Latest News: Project Scorpio To Support Xbox 360 And Xbox One Games
Project Scorpio is getting the Xbox backwards compatibility treatment, according to the latest news.
Xbox lead engineer, Mike Ybarra, shared the news himself on Twitter as he confirmed that Project Scorpio will indeed be part of the Xbox backwards compatibility program. To date, there's no list of titles yet, although this report alleged that "Red Dead Redemption" would be included.
He wrote, "360 Backwards compatibility will of course work on Scorpio," in reply to a fan query of whether or not he could play "Red Dead Redemption" on the console.
Project Scorpio is Microsoft's answer to the demand for more graphical processing power from games with 4K needs. At 6 teraflops of processing power, the console is touted to be the most powerful yet that can "enable true 4K gaming and hi-fidelity VR.
The console also features eight CPU cores and 320GB memory bandwidth. Project Scorpio has a release date of holiday 2017, although there's no exact launch yet.
Meanwhile, TechRadar is hardly surprised by the news about Project Scorpio being compatible with Xbox backwards compatibility considering that the program has been widely received and praised by owners.
The Xbox One was introduced to backwards compatibility in November 2015, and to date more than 250 titles have already been listed in the program. However, one of the complaints about the program is the lack of Triple A titles.
Mike Ybarra was once quoted as saying that there's no rhyme or reason to the Xbox backwards compatibility list. Instead, they include the games that are finished whether they are triple A titles or not.
