‘X-Men’ New TV Series News, Rumors: Live-Action Marvel Show to Premiere on Fox?

Fans can soon expect a new live-action television series, provided Marvel gives the nod to Fox Entertainment to do so.

The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Fox Entertainment has already started negotiations with Marvel to introduce the multi-million dollar movie and comic book franchise on TV. However, the negotiations are said to be in an early stage now.

Quoting sources, the website reports that the executive producers of the '24' television series, Evan Katz and Manny Coto will be in the forefront of the development of the purported live-action superhero television series.

The report further says that provided the deal goes through, the 'X-Men' will be featuring in a live-action television series for the first time ever. Way back in the '60s, the immensely popular Marvel comics appeared as a morning cartoon show and it was featured on a regular basis for over five years from 1992 until 1997.

Early last week, TV Insider was the first break the news regarding the possibility of the live-action 'X-Men' TV show when Fox Entertainment bosses Dana Walden and Gary Newman talked about the possibility of the show at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Newman is quoted as saying, "It's in negotiations. We're cautiously optimistic; we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative."

Fox Entertainment chief not only talked about the potential of introducing the mutant superheroes to television, but also discussed about the plans of the network to revive two most iconic series - 'The X-Files' starring Chris Carter and a limited reboot of 'Prison Break.'

Provided Marvel gives the green signal to bring 'X-Men' to television, the script of the live-action series will be written by 'Star Trek 3' writing duo J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Alongside Katz and Coto, they will also be credited as the showrunners.

Currently, Marvel airs two comic book adaptations on TV - the 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and "Agent Carter,' both on ABC.
