'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast Update: James McAvoy Shaves His Head Professor X Role
We have finally reached the point in time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at which James McAvoy's Professor X will don the mutant professor's classic look.
McAvoy played Professor X in the 2011 movie X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, which debuted in 2014.
McAvoy will be bald in his role as Professor X for the first time since he has been playing the character, for the next installment in the film franchise entitled X-Men: Apocalypse.
The events of the film will be taking place in the 1980s, as opposed to First Class, which was set in the 60s and Days of Future Past, which was set in the 1970s.
The director of X-Men: Apocalypse, Bryan Singer, posted a photograph of McAvoy getting his head shaved on Friday.
The photograph was captioned "#Xavier reborn (in process) #jamesmcavoy #XMEN #XMenApocalypse @xmenmovies".
Patrick Stewart, who has played Professor X in the 20th Century Fox X-Men films, always wears his head shaved, and has said that he will not be making an appearance in the newest film.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be starring Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and several other returning cast members from the previous films as well.
It has been confirmed that Nicholas Hoult will be reprising the role of Hank McCoy, and Rose Byrne that or Mouira MacTaggert, as well.
Lucas Till is also returning to play Havok, but several of the members of the films cast are new.
These include Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. Look out for X-Men: Apocalypse, which will be coming to theaters on May 26th, 2016.
