'X-Men: Apocalypse' Spoilers, News: Director Bryan Singer Teases Photo of Caliban
Director of the latest film in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, Bryan Singer, has revealed that Caliban will be one of the mutants featured in the feature film.
Singer revealed the information via photograph which he posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday, which he captioned, "Shooting Caliban's place of 'business'."
The picture shows Singer directing a scene set in a tunnel. In the X-Men comic series, Caliban was an unsightly, albino mutant, as well as a member of the Morlocks.
The Morlocks are mutants who are outcasts and live in the sewers and tunnels of New York and New Jersey in order to avoid interacting with.
Caliban was named after the character who has the same name in Shakespeare's The Tempest.
In the comics, Caliban was one of Apocalypse's four Horsemen, and he underwent a physical transformation in the process.
Marvel tells us a bit about Caliban, stating that his powers include being able to sonically sense the presence of other mutants within a 25 mile radius of himself.
His original powers included the ability to increase his strength to superhuman levels and absorb psionic energy from the fear of others, and using it against them.
The genetic manipulation done by Apocalypse allows Caliban to use his powers at any time, in addition to enhancing his strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility and reflexes to superhuman levels.
In the comics, Caliban's eyes were sensitive due to the extended length of time during which he lived underground, but this does not seem to be the case with recent incarnations of the character.
