'X-Men: Apocalypse' Spoilers, Cast News: Teaser Photo of Nightcrawler Actor Kodi Smit-McPhee Leaked

Recently, X-Men director, Bryan Singer tweeted and then quickly deleted an image of Kodi Smit-McPhee. Smit-McPhee plays Nightcrawler in the upcoming X-Men installment, X-Men Apocalypse, and the character is known for being hard to keep track of.

Perhaps this explains Singer's tweet which was captioned "Catch him before he's gone." Some of the fans of the popular film franchise did catch the photo.

Smit-McPhee looked strikingly like the character, with full on makeup and costume. This provided fans with their first peek at the film, which will begin shooting this week.

The image was also accompanied by a brief video clip which Singer and Smit McPhee both shared via Twitter, and immediately deleted. The video can still be watch on X-Men Movies official Twitter account.

The actor appeared in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes last year.

He made a statement about his character to the Wall Street Journal, in which he said: "They're keeping his look very traditional, and even things that are happening within the story are very traditional. I believe his look is mustered from a combination of Azazel and Mystique, the blue and the demonish figure."

Smit-McPhee also stated that he thinks it is cool the way that the character's personality does not fit his physical appearance. Smit McPhee, 18, is portraying a younger version of Nightcrawler, who was previously played by Alan Cumming.

X-Men Apocalypse will be seeing several young actors and actresses playing younger versions of well known characters in the franchise, for instance Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops.
