'X-Men: Apocalypse' New Cast News: 'EastEnders' Star Ben Hardy Upcoming Franchise Film
Most of the cast for X-Men: Apocalypse has already been announced, but now, Ben Hardy, most known for his role in EastEnders, has joined the cast of Bryan Singer's newest installment in the successful Fox franchise.
Who Hardy will be playing is still unknown. However, The Wrap said that he might play a younger version of Angel, but his character is to remain "disclosed" and "under wraps" for the time being. Hardy first appeared on Singer's radar for potential roles in the franchise when Hardy tried out for this film's Cyclops.
New cast members that will star as younger versions of the franchise's most recognizable characters are Tye Sheridan (Mud) as Cyclops, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Gray, Alexandra Shipp (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel) as Storm and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) as Nightcrawler.
Returning to the film are Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy and Rose Byrne as Mystique, Magneto, Beast, Professor X and Moira MacTaggert. Oscar Isaac will appear as the villain Apocalypse. Whether Evan Peters will return as Quicksilver or not is still to be determined.
Hardy's role as Peter Beale in BBC's long running TV series EastEnders is his first role ever .His role on the newest X-Men film will be his debut to the big screen.
Hype from the last film X-Men: Days of Future Past is still buzzing around Hollywood as it received a 2015 Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Visual Effects and had a domestic total box office gross of over $233 million.
Singer is set to start production of X-Men: Apocalypse in April and the film is scheduled to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
