‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Cast Update: Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp Join Movie Roster

'X-Men: Apocalypse' director Bryan Singer recently took to his Twitter to announce that Sophie Turner, who starred in 'Game of Thrones', former 'Mud' star Tye Sheridan, as well as Alexandra Shipp, who starred in 'Aaliyah: Princess of R&B' have joined the cast of the upcoming 'X-Men' movie.

According to a report in the IB Times, all these actors will portray the characters of the younger versions of the three mutants in the latest sequel to this superhero movie franchise.

While Turner will portray the character of Jean Grey, a role played by Famke Janssen in the previous 'X-Men' movie, Sheridan will be cast in the role of laser-sighted Cyclops, earlier portrayed by James Marsden. Singer also announced that Shipp will do the role of Storm - a character that became popular, thanks to Halle Berry.

The announcement on Twitter said that these three stars will be joining James McAvoy (who will portray Professor X), Michael Fassbender (who will play the role of Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (who will appear as Mystique), Oscar Isaac and Nicholas Hoult (in the role of Beast) in the upcoming superhero movie.

According to earlier reports, previously Chloe Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld and Elle Fanning were being considered for the role of Jean Grey. Similarly, it was rumored that the 'EastEnders' star Ben Hardy would play the role of Cyclops.

The upcoming movie 'X-Men: Apocalypse' is likely to be based on "Age of Apocalypse," a miniseries released by Marvel Comics in 1995. As of now, the movie is scheduled to hit the theaters across the globe on May 27, 2016.
