'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast Rumors: Producers Consider 'Game of Thrones' Star Sophie Turner
If rumors circulating on the Internet are to be believed, the makers of 'X-Men: Apocalypse' are considering casting Sophie Turner to portray the character of young Jean Grey. Turner is well-known for playing Sansa Stark on 'Game of Thrones' which airs on HBO.
The Latino Review speculates that apart from Turner, Saoirse Ronan, who featured in movies like 'The Lovely Bones', 'Hanna' and 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', is also contending for the role.
In 'X-Men 3: The Last Stand', viewers saw Jean Grey sacrificing herself with a view to facilitate the escape of other mutants. In fact, she changed to her more powerful alternate form - the Phoenix. The older version of the mutant wearing red hair and telekinetic abilities was portrayed by Famke Janssen. Now the filmmakers will look for a younger version of the mutant in the upcoming 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.
The report by Latino Review claims that in addition to Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan, the makers are also considering to cast Alexandra Shipp or Zendaya Coleman in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' in the role of a younger Storm. Earlier, viewers saw Shipp in 'Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B', and he will soon be seen in 'Straight Outta Compton'. On the other hand, Coleman was seen in 'Shake It Up' and 'K.C Undercover'.
Now, it remains to be seen who of these two actresses will be selected for the role earlier portrayed by Halle Berry in the earlier 'X-Men' films.
There are also rumors that the producers of 'X-Men: Apocalypse' will be testing Taron Edgerton ('Kingsman'), Jamie Blackley ('If I Stay') and Tye Sheridan ('Mud') for the role of Cyclops. Earlier, James Marsden portrayed the older version of the character.
