'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast News, Rumors: Patrick Stewart Says Ian McKellen will Feature as Magneto
While it has been suggested that Patrick Stewart will not be playing a role in the upcoming 'X-Men: Apocalypse', recent news will have us believe that this may not be the last X-Men role for the actor.
In a recent interview with Oregon Live, Stewart confirmed that while he won't be appearing in the new X-Men movie, but Ian McKellen, the actor that portrays Magneto, will be. This was a clear contradiction to a statement Stewart made earlier saying McKellen would also be left out.
He also hinted at his new exciting project within the franchise.
"But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it. And what I'm very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together," Sterwart stated, "Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of 'X-Men' from the four movies that I've already done."
On a side note, the third solo Wolverine film is set to release on March 3rd, 2017 and it is projected to be Hugh Jackman's last reprisal of the role.
It hasn't been confirmed what the premise of the film will be, but due to the precedings of the last X-Men movie, 'Days of Future Past', the cinematic continuity has reset itself, so there really is no boundaries on what the franchise could do.
'X-Men: Apocalypse' will push the series forward with a younger cast.
"X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 26, 2016 and will feature the return of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Rose Byrne with newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, and Tye Sheridan," writes Coming Soon.
