‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Cast News, Rumors: Jennifer Lawrence Quits Franchise, Channing Tatum's Gambit Cameo?
While fans of the 'X-Men' movie franchise will miss a famous face, Jennifer Lawrence, after 'X-Men: Apocalypse,' they will be delighted to know that some other big names are rumored to be joining the series.
According to IB Times, Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that she will not return to the franchise to reprise the role of Mystique after the release of 'X-Men: Apocalypse.' In fact, Lawrence will be portraying the science fiction character for the third time in the upcoming movie. She has, however, confirmed to MTV News this week, "it is my last one, actually."
In fact, Lawrence's last film in the prequel series will reportedly be the first appearance for another actor. There are rumors that Channing Tatum may be making his debut as Gambit. Recently a reporter at the Latino Review shared on Instagram that initially it was believed that Tatum's debut as the Cajun superhero would be in the announced 2016 'Gambit' film, but now it appears that the actor may be introduced to the X-Men universe much earlier. And if he really appears in the 2016 "X-Men" film, he will certainly be a cameo.
In 2014, director Bryan Singer had disclosed that he wanted the Tatum in the film. Singer told Cine Premiere "I'm considering a Gambit and potentially a young Nightcrawler for 'Apocalypse.'"
However, Tatum is not the only star who is rumored to be making a cameo in the next 'X-Men' movie. In addition, Halle Berry is said to return to her role as Storm, who also appeared in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.' It is likely that she will be portraying a younger version of herself. Cinema Blend notes that Alexandra Shipp was cast as the teenage Storm in January.
In case rumors about Berry's return turns out to be true, she'll be joined by Hugh Jackman, another original cast member in the film, who will reportedly come back for another round as Wolverine. The rumored return of Jackman does not come as a surprise because he has already clarified in the past that he'll play Wolverine for as long as he can.
Jackman told Cigar Aficionado, "I said to my wife, 'The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I've got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.'"
Filming of 'X-Men: Apocalypse' starts in April and the movie is slated for released in May 2016.
