'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast News: New Film to Feature Rose Byrne as CIA Agent Moira MacTaggert
In 'X-Men: Apocalypse,' fans will see several mutants preparing themselves to combat Apocalypse or En Sabah Nur, a very old, but powerful and malevolent force. In fact, fans can expect plenty of surprises from the makers till the period before the film releases on May 27, 2016.
According to Christian Today, recently Simon Kinberg, 'X-Men: Apocalypse' writer and producer, revealed that a character that fans saw in 'X-Men: First Class' will be returning to the upcoming movie. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Kinberg disclosed that Rose Byrne will return to reprise her role as Moira MacTaggert, who is a CIA agent and also an ally of the mutants.
Kinberg further revealed that Byrne will have a crucial role in the upcoming movie that will deal with her relationship with Charles Xavier (James McAvoy).
In the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kinberg said, "She's a significant character in the movie," adding, "We ended 'First Class' with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them. It's certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in 'First Class', and would like to mine more in this one."
He also disclosed that apart from Byrne and McAvoy, Michael Fassbender will also return to reprise his role as Erik Lensherr. Similarly, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will reprise their roles as Mystique and Beast, respectively. On the other hand, the writers will be introducing young Jean Grey for the first time in this movie. Sophie Turner, who features in 'Game of Thrones' will portray the character alongside young Storm, portrayed by Alexandra Shipp, and young Cyclops, played by Tye Sheridan.
Earlier, the production house had confirmed Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will not be returning in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' to reprise their roles as the elder Magneto and Professor X respectively.
