'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast News: Actor Oscar Isaac Talks Role in Upcoming Film
Oscar Isaac recently gave Yahoo UK an exclusive scoop on what fans can expect from him and his role as Apocalypse in the new X-Men movie.
"It'll be a mix [of practical and digital]," Isaac said, "I haven't had a script so I haven't had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it'll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology."
This will be interesting to see, as the character in the comics stands at approximately seven feet fall and at around 300 pounds with red eyes. The actor may be able to bulk up for the role, but movie magic can only do so much. Digital effects are absolutely necessary for this role.
"In the comics Apocalypse is an ancient mutant with the ability to complete control over the molecules of his body. He's usually portrayed as a hulking bruiser with grey and blue-skin who wears an elaborate armored suit which has been augmented by alien tech, so a combined physical and digital transformation seems appropriate," writes Yahoo UK.
Isaac goes on to say, "After we finish here I'm heading to do a head cast [for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'], which they do often. You spend 3-4 hours with them putting plaster all over your head and they get a sense of what your face is like and what shape your head is, so they can start figuring out the costume and the make up and all that stuff, which is pretty fun."
The movie's directors has classically adapted all his characters from X-Men with mostly makeup and physical alterations. This will be a first for him going digital with a character.
"X-Men: Age of Apocalypse" is set to hit theaters on May 27th, 2016.
