'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast News: Actor James McAvoy Shaves His Head For Role
A recent Instagram picture posted by director Bryan Singer has revealed some huge developments in James McAvoy's character in the upcoming 'X-Men: Apocalypse.'
As most fans will recognize, the actor has played a younger iteration of Professor X, and while the actor has donned his long locks for the duration of his features, he has finally committed to going bald and represent the character's true appearance.
The choice to finally cut McAvoy's hair for the role may be attributed to the time period that the movie will be shot in.
"James McAvoy, who played the Marvel character in 2011's X-Men: First Class and 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past, will be bald in the role for the first time for the franchise's next installment, X-Men: Apocalypse. The new film will be set in the 1980s, unlike First Class, which took place in the '60s, and Future Past, which was set in the '70s," writes THR.
McAvoy will be joined by a whole cast of new younger versions of their respective characters, including Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Lana Condor as Jubilee G, and Olivia Munn as Psylocke.
Expected to be back to reprise their roles are Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver.
Actor Oscar Isaac will be introduced as the villain Apocalypse, his debut in the movie universe.
"X-Men: Apocalypse has been described by Singer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg as the conclusion of a 'trilogy' that began with X-Men: First Class, though more films are expected to keep the series rolling down the road," writes Digital Trends.
'X-Men: Apocalypse' plans to premiere on May 27th, 2016.
