'X-Files' Spoilers, News: Will the New Episodes Be Serialized?

Production has since wrapped up for the revival 'X-Files' series and fans couldn't be more excited to see it premiere this winter, however there are still some questions regarding how it will air.

A common question for the series has been if the episodes will standalone or be serialized such as the original series. In an interview with Slash Film, Chairman and CEO of Fox Television Group, Dana Walden brought some light to the issue.

A clip of the first episode was screened at the Television Critics Association, and Walden had this to say about it afterwards:

"You're seeing a scene from our first episode back. As you may recall, the mix of episodes we did was mythology episodes, episodes that dug deeper into the conspiracy of the X-Files, and then there were great spooky standalone episodes. That's still the mix we'll be exploring in this run."

This will be a particularly impressive feat for the six episode mini-series, as it would appear that they wouldn't have the kind of screen time to waste on fillers.

She goes on to speak on the revival series as a whole and what it really means for the fans and creators:

"They feel ripe for reinvention and a great opportunity to reunite meaningful characters who people were attached to, tell fresh stories about them. They've taken a significant hiatus and they're event miniseries. We're not suggesting that we're rebooting The X-Files longterm. It felt like there was a great opportunity to bring back two characters who have enormous chemistry together and tell some new stories now that we have new fans and people that remember it from the original run."

'X-Files' returns to television in January.
