'X-Files' Reboot Cast News: David Duchovny Coming Back as Special Agent Fox Mulder?

It would seem like things for an "X-Files" reboot are a total go ahead on actor David Duchovny's end. For those that may not know, Duchovny played FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder in the original series.

Last week it was reported that the network was looking to bring the show back on the air with the leads reprising their characters. We previously had no words from either actor on their thoughts, but in a recent interview with USA Today, Duchovny expressed his interest to bring the show back with his co-star Gillian Anderson.

"I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now," Duchovny comments, "We'll see what form, how many [episodes]. Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season."

Old or young, many '90s fans will rejoice in hearing the two come back to the small screen once more.

There is no word yet from Anderson, but it was perceived that both actors had contractual obligations with NBC that could potentially inhibit the reboot.

"Duchovny also has other obligations. He's starring in a new NBC series, Aquarius, in which he plays a homicide detective on the trail of Charles Manson in the 1960s before the Tate-LaBianca murders," USA Today writes.

Anderson herself currently has a starring role on NBC's "Hannibal," and "The Fall." The hard part won't be getting the cooperation from each party, but will more likely be finding a scheduled time where Duchovny, Anderson and Carter can all start production.

This is probably why Duchovny suggested the idea of a limited series, or miniseries. They've done the original series from 1993 to 2002, it's been done. This reboot may just serve as a treat to the diehard fans of the series.
