WWE Rumors and Spoilers 2014 News: Vince McMahon, Jim Ross Address CM Punk Comments
In latest WWE news and rumors, World Wrestling Entertainment CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon and former HOF announcer and talent evaluator Jim 'JR' Ross both discussed the possibility of CM Punk's possible return to the sports entertainment company after the 'Straight Edge Superstar' recently claimed he was fired on his wedding day.
"I would like to apologize," said McMahon on his former in-ring rival Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast show in an interview that aired exclusively on the WWE Network on December 1.
"Sometimes in a big corporation, the legal people don't necessarily know what talent relations are doing and conversely and Punk got his severance papers on the day he got married. And that was a coincidence. So, I want to personally apologize for that."
The 69-year-old sports entertainment promoter further expressed that he hopes that he and Punk can bury the hatchet one day. This is similar to his previous relationships with several superstars including Brett 'The Hitman' Hart after the infamous Montreal Screwjob incident at the Survivor Series PPV event in 1997.
"Other than that, the only thing I want to say about Punk is there have been a number of individuals in the past that have been disgruntled, said a lot of things about the organization and I'm not going to wash the dirty laundry in public. I don't think there's any reason for that. I think there are a lot of things he may say that he may regret one day in terms of looking back at it. But nonetheless, I hope that one day we will be able to get back together again," said Mr. McMahon.
"You [Stone Cold] and I got back together again. We had our differences. Hogan - oh my God. Ultimate Warrior. There's a long list of them."
The "Best in the World" has not been seen in the WWE ring since he competed at the Royal Rumble PPV event on January 26, but that fact has not stopped the prevalent reports that the "Voice of the Voiceless" professional wrestler will one day return to the WWE.
"Was happy that VKM addressed the hot topic of the CM Punk matter and was surprised about the apology he made to Punk about getting his legal paperwork on Punk and AJ's wedding day. Seems as if the door is open to resume talks someday if both parties are of that mindset," wrote WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross on his blog regarding Punk's potential return.
"Punk's overwhelming desire to close the show at a WrestleMania is admirable and if anyone in the locker room doesn't have that same goal every day of their professional life then they need to find another line of work."
