WWE News: Sports Company to Induct Macho Man Randy Savage into 2015 Hall of Fame
WWE announced that Macho Man Randy Savage is the first member of their Hall of Fame Class of 2015.
It was also revealed that Hulk Hogan will induct Savage to the Hall of Fame during the event. Macho Man made a career in the field of wrestling for over 30 years. He was considered as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and the move to induct him in the Hall of Fame was long awaited.
Savage became the champion for WWE twice and turned out as WCW's World Heavyweight champion four times. The Macho Man also won as Intercontinental Champion and 1987 King of the Kings.
Unfortunately, the famed wrestler will not be able to receive the recognition personally since he passed away in 2011 due to a heart failure while driving a car.
Savage's brother Lanny Poffo talked about the upcoming induction and said that he was relieved and he felt happy with the recognition. Poffo joked that his brother's fans need to find something to complain about now that Macho Man will finally be inducted.
Macho Man's brother added that the wrestler loved his fans and the long awaited recognition broke the hearts of Savage's followers. Poffo described it as a "horrible thing."
Poffo also shared his views about Hogan doing the induction and he said that he thinks it's a wonderful thing. If Macho Man was alive, he would be the one to make a speech for his own induction. Poffo added that it would be great if Hogan wanted to make "amends."
Hogan and Savage were considered as rivals during their time when they were know as tag team Mega Powers. Outside WWE, the wrestlers' relationship took a downturn as the years went by. At one time, Savage challenged Hogan into a fight for a charitable cause.
Savage's induction to WWE Hall of Fame will happen on March 28.
