WWE 2014 News, Rumors: ‘WWE Night of Champions’ 2014 Recap: John Cena Defeated Brock Lesnar by Disqualification
WWE's Night of Champions 2014 was a series of rematches and rewinds that made viewers who opted for Pay Per View question whether or not the show was worth the $9.99 fee. Even so, here are some of the notable scenes from the showdown that took place in Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
For the opening event, The Dust Brothers toppled The Usos in a tag team championship with Stardust rolling Jey Uso in defeat. Meanwhile, Sheamus triumphed against Cesaro using a Brogue Kick in the United States Championship Match while The Miz, with Damien Wizdow, won over Dolph Ziggler in the Intercontinental Championship Match.
Consequently, the crowd was not all surprised in the 'big guy versus big guy' performance of Rusev and Mark Henry. Eventually, the latter succumbed to submission to Rusev's camel clutch. On the other hand, 34-year-old Randy Orton brought back the life of the crowd on a match against Jericho. Orton defeated his opponent by pretending to be injured as he later on came flying in off the turnbuckle right into Jericho.
The Diva's Championship came with a triple threat from AJ Lee, Nikki Bella, and Paige. AJ Lee eventually made Paige tap with the Black Widow making her the reigning queen for the season.
For the culminating event, John Cena, together with Paul Heyman, came face to face with Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Cena gave an early AA in an attempt to steal the title. Afterwards, Rollins came in stomping at Lesnar, and while Cena and Lesnar continued brawling, the latter never made it to the ringside before the bell rang. The show ended in confusion and declared Cena the champion.
