WrestleMania 31 News, Rumors: Triple Threat Match Brings in Bryan, Reigns, & Lesnar?
WrestleMania 31 is still two months away, but already rumors have started to swirl regarding the main event for the March 29 show in Santa Clara, California.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, WWE big boss Vince McMahon is giving the people what they want, adding fan favorite Daniel Bryan to the main event originally scheduled to pit Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.
McMahon recently changed his mind about the WrestleMania main event, and will be going the WrestleMania 30 route by having Bryan figure in a Triple Threat Match with Reigns and Lesnar, says Meltzer's report.
"The feeling after the Royal Rumble was that Vince McMahon would not want to do another triple threat match to headline their biggest show of the year, since they went that route last year. However, Vince McMahon heard the fan backlash to Roman Reigns loud and clear, held a meeting with top WWE officials and decided on Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan," the report read.
Fans did not hold back in expressing their feelings after Reigns won the Royal Rumble, booing loudly and trending #CancelWWENetwork on various social media.
Of course, this rumored development comes while Lesnar's future with the company remains uncertain. There have been rumors that Lesnar could leave the WWE for another shot at MMA, either with Bellator, or his former employers, the UFC.
Mike Dyce of FanSided offers that the WWE may have found a straight-up match between Lesnar and Bryan to be too one-sided, hence prompting them to go the triple threat route.
The FanSided report speculates that with the PPV event WWE Fast Lane slating Bryan to face Reigns for the title, Bryan could end up winning to earn a shot at the title, while Reigns could demand his title shot, which would lead to the three-way match at WrestleMania 31.
