Worldwide Box Office Results: 'Hunger Games' Still Highest Grossing Film Internationally
Some say that a film can only be truly considered a success when it is tested internationally. Well apparently, the 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' qualifies as it currently holds the spot for the number one film in regards to box office revenue across the globe.
In its second week internationally, the third film of the franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence earned a staggering $123.8 Million. It has been reported that the cumulative revenues that the film has collected amounts to $480 Million.
That's probably hard to beat, but not too far ahead, going in at second place, the film 'The Penguins of Madagascar' which was previously at 7th place then earned $68.1 Million after opening in several territories.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's film, 'Interstellar' is at $60.2 Million. In four weeks, the film starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway gained total revenue of almost $400 million since it opened last month.
Coming in at fourth place is Jennifer Anniston and Jason Bateman's film 'Horrible Bosses 2' with earnings of $27.4 million and not too far behind is the Disney and Marvel film 'Big Hero 6', which earned $23.57 million.
Meanwhile, at 6th is the comedy film starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels 'Dumb and Dumber To' which grossed $12.74 million and gaining a total $101.2 million since it first opened. Back to back with another comedy film, 'Women Who Flirt' is at the 7th place gaining $11.58 Million.
At the 8th place is Brad Pitt's film 'Fury' which earned an additional $9.45 million this week. Next from the list is the famous bear from Peru 'Paddington' which gained $8.5 Million upon opening in five territories.
And in the 10th place, the Chinese romance 'The Best, The Lost' with $8 million after showing only in its local territory. The numbers are definitely still moving up, and the news agencies are still closely looking at the unbeaten 'Hunger Games' film as the week goes on.
