'World War Z 2' Movie Trailer, Rumors: Brad Pitt Reprises As Gerry Lane? Release Date Details

The zombie apocalypse movie World War Z will push through with a sequel that may be more tied with the book this time. Brad Pitt will reprise his role as Gerry Lane.

World War Z as of today is the top-earning zombie film in history according to Christian Post. While the details about the sequel are still being sorted out, rumors has it that the story will be tied to the events that happened in the original book that was written by Max Brooks.

Dennis Kelly has been tapped to work on the sequel's script. Rumor has it that another writer will join Kelly but the two writers would still have to adapt to Steven Knight's style in making the story.

Knight praised how the first film was written. He was amazed at the fluidity of the storytelling.

"I think the beauty of the first film was the way that it never paused for breath. It never spent a moment thinking, 'Hang on a minute, we'd better tell the audience what this is all about.' It stayed in the moment, it stayed with that person," Knight told Collider a couple of months ago.

J.A. Bayona will be the new director of the second World War Z film. The 40-year-old director is known for the movies, "The Orphanage (2007)" and "The Impossible (2012)". While there's a new director for the film and as well as new writers, Brad Pitt is still willing to come back for his previous role.

"World War Z 2" film is set to be released June 9, 2017.
