Coming a long way from her 'Chasing Papi' days, Sofia Vergara has been named one of the highest paid television actresses in the world. The Colombian star has retained the top spot for four consecutive years.

Citing Forbes, Latin Post reports that Vergara is tied for the top place with Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting with annual earning worth a whopping $28.5 million. Cuoco-Sweeting is currently doing the female lead in the CBS sitcom'The Big Bang Theory.'

Vergara started her career as a model and currently is one of the most popular Latinas on television. Her portrayal of Gloria in the ABC television series 'Modern Family' helped her to become one of the most prominent stars of television.

In fact, the 43-year-old actress has never been shy about her money-making status. People reported that on the other hand, Vergara has publicly asserted that she does not see anything shameful about making a lot of money.

"I'm not ashamed to say I love making money," Vergara told Glam Bellaza Latina.

She further said, "I like business, and the truth is I save way more than I spend. I invest. I plan for the future. I have a special eye for opportunities and work harder than anyone might expect. It is fun to shock people with my business ideas. Most people just see me as Gloria."

While most of Vergara's hefty paycheck is due to her work on 'Modern Family,' it also includes income from her various deals with beauty brands such as CoverGirl and Head and Shoulders.

For Vergara, her huge paycheck is not her only major accomplishment. In fact, she is also the highest paid Latina and the only Latina on the list of top 15 actresses.

Despite the fact that the actress has received some criticism for playing a stereotypical Latina on the show, Vergara said she is aware of how she is perceived.

"I think that the concept of being sexy and smart is difficult for many to grasp," she said, adding, "Most people are more comfortable with the notion of 'sexy bimbo.' And I have to admit that I've capitalized on that to negotiate a couple of times. When the 'smart ones' think I have no idea what I can deliver, I end up costing them more."
