'World of Warcraft' Release Date, Movie News: Director Duncan Jones Talks Upcoming Film & CGI

"Warcraft', which is a movie based on the MMO video game, "World of Warcraft', is all set to release on March 11, 2016, according to Universal Pictures.

The film was first announced in 2006 as a project partnership with Legendary Pictures and is being directed by Duncan Jones and the script was co-written by Charles Leavitt. On the cast are Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell and Rob Kazinsky.

Director Jones seems as excited about the movie as the fans are. In an interview with 2p revealed some of the plot details. He said, "A Warcraft film should not be about a good race of humans battling an evil race of Orcs! Warcraft should be about heroes on both sides trying to avoid a conflict, when villains leave them no choice."

He also took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to have a discussion with the fans. He called for an open dialogue with the fans by tweeting, "So lets chat. I've got a movie coming out next year; WARCRAFT. It's based on a computer game of the same name but it's pretty unique..."

While many have speculations about the successful adaptation of the video game into a movie, the director said, "We're trying to work out how best to let people who don't play the game know that this is a film they'll genuinely want to see," according to the VC Post.

He added, saying, "I would say that we fit somewhere between Planet of the Apes, Fellowship of the Ring and Avatar. You know as well as I do, game to film adaptations have a checkered past, but Im proud of this beast. It's unique. It's something special."

Beyond that, Jones took to Twitter to express his opinion on CGI. He tweeted, "I hear this 'CGI in film sucks,' mantra again & again. It doesn't. It's a tool like any other. It can be done well & it can be done sh**. The best CGI has you forgetting its CGI, and accepting the visual as whatever it is supposed to be," according to GameSpot.
