In line with James Mangold's Marvel Comics film "Logan," formerly called "Wolverine 3," the director has unveiled a look at one of the upcoming film's mutant characters, Caliban.

On Oct. 17, Mangold tweeted a photo of Caliban, which is played by "The Office" actor Stephen Merchant. In a caption, the director wrote "Taken w/ Leica S 007 Summicron 100mm, ISO 1600 1/250 f2 -- by JM," apparently referring to the photo's camera details and photographer.

According to iDigital Times, Caliban is a vital mutant in the X-Men realm. As per the publication, Caliban was one of the 198 mutants left, after they were terminated by Scarlet Witch, who lost control of her powers. It is added that without Caliban, who has the ability to track other mutants, the X-gene would have been completely annihilated.

The website says it is set to be "quite a stretch" to get the mutant-tracking mutant on board in both movies played by two different actors. In Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse," Caliban was played by Tomas Lemarquis and he was approached by the titular supervillain to help him find his horsemen.

On Oct. 16, Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine/Logan in the film, also tweeted a photo on his social media account. It sees a classified ad, clipped on a car's visor. In caption, the actor wrote "SUNSEEKER. LOGAN 3.3.17." As per Movie Web, Jackman's photo does not exactly lead to a particular point in the story line.

Set in 2014, "Logan" sees the titular character and Professor Charles Xavier, as they cope with the loss of the X-Men when Nathaniel Essex's company tried to destroy the world. As Logan's recuperative abilities go away and Xavier's Alzheimer's forces him to forget things, the former must take down the villain with a young girl named Laura Kinney, Wolverine's female clone.

The film stars Richard Grant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Sienna Novikov, Doris Morgado, Boyd Holbrock, Patrick Stewart, Stephen Merchant, and Hugh Jackman as Logan.

"Logan" is slated to premiere in United States theaters on March 3, 2017.
