'Wolfenstein: The Old Blood' Release Date, Trailer, Price: Bethesda & Machine Games New Franchise Title [VIDEO]
Wednesday, March 4, Bethesda and Machine Games released their first trailer for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. The prequel to the successful series follows special agent BJ Blazkowicz once again to try and stop the WWII Nazi regime by any means necessary.
The Wolfenstein series dates back to 1992. Since then, the games that have been released share moderate to high success rates amongst fans and critics alike. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will take place in 1946 and is a standalone prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order.
The game will have two parts to it. In the first part, titled "Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves," Blazkowicz will break into Castle Wolfenstein. There he will make his way throughout the castle and eventually obtain information about where Deathshead, the main villain, is located. The second part, titled "The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs," is located in the fictional town of Wulfburg. There he will find a Nazi archaeologist who collects and studies mysterious and strange things that could turn the war around in favor of the Nazis.
This new game looks promising as players are allowed to use various tools they find during missions as weapons. The style of the game brings back a lot of popular themes with WWII such as propagandistic show tunes and fonts to make the game feel like players are in The Second World War along with Blazkowicz.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will release on May 5 for $19.99/£14.99 for download only for PC, PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. According to Games Radar, Europe will also get physical copies for the PC and PlayStation 4. Bethesda plans on revealing more gameplay at PAX East this weekend.
