‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ PC System Requirements: Minimum & Maximum Specs to Run Game

According to the recently released PC requirements, 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' will need at least 6GB RAM memory and an Intel i5 3.3GHz processor to run effectively.

In addition, the video card must be a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870 or better. It requires Microsoft DirectX 11 and 64-bit Windows 7 or Windows 8(8.1). The hard drive space should at least be 40 GB.

For an ideal set-up, PCs should run in Intel i7 3770 3,4 GHz or with a core processor of AMD FX-8350 4 GHz. For top performance, the gamer must have a GeForce GTX 770 or Radeon R9 290 video card.

The requirements to play 'The Witcher 3' are a big leap from 'The Witcher 2', which can be played with 1GB of RAM and 2.2 GHz processor. The game can run, but not in good quality.

The heavy PC requirements are not a surprise since 'The Witcher 3' will be the first game to use REDEngine 3. The engine is customized for role playing games in an open world.

CD Projekt RED leader Adam Badowski explained the mechanics of the new engine.

"If we look at RPGs nowadays we find two approaches, one which emphasizes the story but limits the game world, and one that builds a vast, open world but hampers and simplifies the story. With the REDengine 3 we combine the positive aspects of both approaches for the first time, creating an open environment with a complex, multi-thread story," Badowski said.

The company promises a more realistic game without the loading hassles. 'The Witcher 3' world is said to be 30 times larger than its predecessor. It may take 100 hours to complete the game and the player can explore it via horses and sailboats.

Gamers who have the system requirements for 'The Witcher 3' can enjoy the game on May 19, 2015.
