'Winds of Winter' Release Date News: 'Game of Thrones' Author Slams Rumors via Blog
'Game of Thrones' series author, George R.R. Martin, recently came out and clarified rumors about the release of his next book, 'The Winds of Winter', on his blog.
Speculations about the release of 'The Winds of Winter' started when Martin's Twitter account posted memes of "Twelve Days of Christmas," but with a house of Westeros twist. The hashtag #12daysofwesteros was accompanied by several pictures with 'A Game of Thrones' reference.
Martin said on Live Journal that he would like to clarify the rumors again by reiterating that he does not have a social media account since he is a busy person. The official accounts he created on Facebook and Twitter are maintained by his "minions and publishers."
The author explained that he only created those accounts to repel fake users who post so-called announcements about his books that would immediately go viral on social media. Martin revealed that he does not post or read anything on those accounts.
The memes that fans assumed to be a countdown for 'The Winds of Winter' release was actually suggested by his staff, which he approved. It was just a "little Christmas celebration" and not a countdown to any book he is going to publish.
Martin also emphasized that he understands how the fans feel about the long wait for 'The Winds of Winter'. The book will be released when he is done and there will be no frills about it. The release date will have a straightforward announcement and will not coincide with any special events.
'A Game of Thrones' is the first book in the 'A Song of Fire and Ice' novel series while 'The Winds of Winter' is the sixth installment.
Fans can get the first five books of 'A Song of Fire and Ice' by Martin at the price of $29.81 on Amazon.
