Windows 10 Launch Date News: Microsoft May Release Latest Operating System in July
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) CEO Lisa Su recently said that Microsoft may make its upcoming operating system, Windows 10, available to the public some time in late July.
IB Times reports that though the Redmond, Washington-based tech giant announced in March that it would make Windows 10 available "this summer," the company has not revealed the precise release date for the OS. Nevertheless, speaking at the chip manufacturer's earnings call recently, Lisa Su revealed that Windows 10 may possibly launch Windows 10 in late July.
The transcript of the AMD president and CEO's call posted by Seeking Alpha reads, "What we also are factoring in is, you know, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory buildup."
It is worth mentioning here that AMD is among the major suppliers in the PC market, and is possibly a reliable source on Microsoft's plans regarding the releaseof Windows 10. AMD supplies application chips to several companies manufacturing Windows computers. It is a major rival of other major chipmakers like Intel. In case AMD already has its own plans for the Windows 10 launch, it is likely that several new smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops running Windows 10 will follow soon afer the release of the latest operating system.
After the Windows 8 was received poorly by the users, Microsoft intends to overhaul its operating system with the release of Windows 10. Windows 78 was released for the public in October 2012 and was disapproved of for being too centered on touchscreen devices, with a below par interface for desktops and laptops.
Hence, it is expected that Windows 10 will feature a more traditional desktop interface and start menu. It is likely to be available in 190 countries and 111 languages on its release. Microsoft will allow Windows 7 and Windows 8 users to upgrade to Windows 10 for free for one year after the release of the latest operating system.
